Prior to Palmer's entry into the FOX TV musical, Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens were the first cast members to join "Grease: Live!"

Back in January, FOX announced that Hough and Hudgens would play Sandy and Rizzo. Sandy and Rizzo were famously played by Olivia Newton-John and Stockard Channing in the 1978 "Grease" film.

"'Grease' is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy," Hough told Entertainment Weekly following the announcement of her casting.

"My siblings and I watched it and played it out over and over when we were kids. This is my dream role and performing it live on television will be one of the most thrilling opportunities I've had in my career so far."

At the time of the announcement, FOX released a statement describing the TV musical as a show that will bring "star power and quality."

Fox promised to "re-imagine the hit crossover musical for an entirely new generation."

Us Weekly reports that "Grease! Live" will be FOX's first TV musical.

NBC first started the trended of airing live TV musicals beginning with its 2013 production of "The Sound of Music" starring Carrie Underwood and its 2014 production of "Peter Pan" starring Allison Williams.

Buzz Feed reports that "Grease: Live!" will air live on FOX on Jan. 31, 2016 at 7 p.m. EST.
