The highly anticipated Season 2 of the hit Starz series "Outlander" will be debuting in 2016, but they have already started production on the series. There has also been a notable casting announcement, according to TV Wise.

Audrey Brisson, who is an established stage actress, will be joining the cast of "Outlander" in Season 2. Her role will be that of Sister Angelique, a nun at L'Hopital Des Anges in Paris.

In book two of the Diana Gabaldon series, "Dragonfly in Amber," Claire spent a lot of time at L'Hopital Des Anges volunteering. Although there have been some changes between the Starz series and the book series, the most important elements that drive the story have remained the same.

The role for Brisson is considered a guest-starring role but may evolve into something more as production of Season 2 continues. We do know that at some point Claire is going to go from volunteer to patient, so we will have to wait and see how her role progresses.

In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Ron Moore gave them some details that relate to next season. We do know that the end of season one corresponded to the end of book one, so that may foreshadow the direction of the show.

"The general plan is probably to try to do a book a season." Moore told Deadline. "Some of the books are bigger than others so we've definitely had conversations about, 'well, you know, at some point we made need to split a book into two seasons,' but right now we're not there yet so the plan is to do 'Dragonfly In Amber' for Season 2."

Moore went on to say that book two is more complex than book one, so it will need to be adapted in a different way for television production. That means they will have to throw in a few changes for it to make sense on the screen, but the political turmoil will still be present.

"There will be twists and turns that aren't in the book," Moore said.
