The CW's "iZombie" has been picked up for another season, and many fans of the unique and funny series about Liv and her fellow brain-eating population in Seattle are eager to see what's next in the story. While the first season's finale left many cliffhangers that could be answered in the next episodes, the question on whether Peyton, Liv's best friend will return was left hanging.

Fortunately, fans of Aly Michalka, who plays Peyton, can finally heave a sigh of relief as the show's creator, Rob Thomas, confirmed that her character will still be seen next season.

Thomas, who is known for his work in "Veronica Mars," explained why the actress was missing in action during the season finale.

"Unfortunately, we don't have Aly Michalka as a series regular and we had a certain number of episodes we could afford to put her in, and we were at our limit there," the screenwriter told Collider. "And the time we were doing this, she was shooting a pilot and we thought, 'There's a chance we'll never get to see her again, if her pilot goes and she's on a show for the next few years.'"

But it seems that the pilot for "Chenvy" was unable to make it to ABC's cut, so Michalka will be more visible in the next episodes.

"She is available to us again, and we hope to see more of her," said Thomas.

In the penultimate episode, Peyton ran away when she accidentally discovered Liv as a zombie when her best friend tried to kill the zombie who attacked her at home. She was supposed to go on a weekend getaway with Ravi, played by Rahul Kohli, but did not show up. It was not clear at that time if she would return or not.

Thomas also cleared the rumors in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that Peyton was turned into a zombie with a scratch from Sebastian, played by Matthew MacCaull, when he attacked her in the apartment. The producer denied the reports and even teased about getting back on board to incorporate that idea.

"iZombie's" Season 2 will pick off most of the stories that were left unresolved in the first season's finale. The show creator also revealed that new villains and problem arcs would be introduced in the next episodes.

While the initial order for the upcoming season is originally for 13 episodes, Thomas is hoping that the show would be a success to be order 9 more episodes to make it a 22-episode season.

No announcement has been made on when Season 2 of "iZombie" will air.
