Rosie Perez made a startling confession regarding her sexuality Monday night during the TrevorLIVE New York event in NYC.

According to E! News, "The View" co-host revealed that she is "quasi-straight" and had a crush on a girl named Michelle when she was in junior high.

"Every human being, whether they want to admit it or not, went through a period of questioning. I know I did," she said. "All I wanted to do was hump her. And I suppressed the urge and suppressed the urge and suppressed the urge until Michelle one day started humping on me"

She continued by explaining that she is confident she is not the only person who wasn't sure whether she was gay or straight. Perez said that other people are also guilty of keeping those feelings to themselves.

"...I know I'm not lesbian, gay or whatever, I'm a quasi-straight person, I still went through that period. And I thought I was all alone," she said.

Quasi-straight refers to those who are not gay or straight.

Perez, who is married to artist Eric Haze, thought that her sexuality would have been different if it weren't for the counseling hotline that she used.

"I remember that hurt," she said. "And that hurt kept me silent and that silence brought shame. I didn't have a community. I didn't have The Trevor Project."

Perez says she was lucky to have people in her life who were able to help her be who she is. She thanks her father and her aunt in particular. But she also had the support of community leaders, who encouraged her to be different and let her "spirit shine."

Perez, who was drawing from personal experience, told the audience that normal does not exist. Instead, it is being different that is the norm.
