"Falling Skies" will soon be returning to TNT, but unfortunately for fans, Season 5 will be the last.

TVLine reports there is more good and bad news to come. The Skitters and Mechs, for the most part, no longer have power after the Espheni power core was destroyed. But there will also be a "critical blow against the 2nd Mass, one that will leave them wondering: 'Is Skitter meat edible?'"

Tom Mason is likely to return to Earth, even though the last time audiences saw Mason he was lost in space after having trouble navigating his was back to Earth. 

In an interview with the Examiner, Drew Roy, who plays Hal Mason, reveals that Tom will indeed find his way back home. The actor simply explains that as always he will find his way back, but he does not say how it happens. 

The 2nd Mass have been fighting the Skitters for five seasons. After the "Saturday Night Massacre" episode last season, the 2nd Mass has fewer than 50 men fighting the war. Knowing that the group is outnumbered, it is likely that new members will be introduced into the calvary. 

As for Alexis Glass-Mason, she may still be alive. The human-alien hybrid died in the season finale, but there's a chance she might return and get revenge. That is, if Tom doesn't get to her first. 

There will definitely be important people dying in the final season. 

Roy made it clear that fans should expect more characters to meet their end.

"The odds are not in our favor, but we will definitely kill some people this year," he said. "I would be disappointed if we didn't. It wouldn't be believable. Towards the end, several of us were making our cases as to why our particular character should be killed. We were like, 'alright, I want you to kill me, but just don't kill me too early.' ... But we will definitely lose some important people, some people that have been there for a long time or the whole time, so yeah, you'll definitely get your blood lust."

The final battle between humans and aliens will play out this season. And if other sci-fi shows are any indication, it is likely the humans will be victorious. 

Season 5 of "Falling Skies" begins June 28 on TNT.
