The new season of "Chasing Life" is rapidly approaching, and more details have been released about what fans can expect.

The second season of ABC Family's "Chasing Life" debuts on July 6, and it is going to be a great season. At the end of the first season, April (Italia Ricci) and Leo (Scott Michael Foster) were left celebrating their engagement. According to Spoiler's Guide, ABC Family released a description for the season premiere.

"Newly engaged and unemployed, April tries to come to terms with her new reality," according to the description. "Always one to think two steps ahead, she decides to no longer plan for her future but just enjoy the moment she is in with a little help from fellow cancer patient Vanessa (Krysta Rodriguez). First up is to plan and enjoy her engagement party! Meanwhile, Natalie stumbles upon a secret manuscript of her father's that could have major repercussions for the entire Carver family."

This season is shaping up to be "fun," according to executive producer Patrick Sean Smith.

He said that he feels proud of the scripts that have been written, and that he's excited about the new direction April's life is going in. Usually, she's trying to get an article or a byline, but now, she's trying to get her life in a better place, according to E! News.

Smith also hinted that the engagement between the two is leading the show in another direction.

In the first season, April is battling her recurring cancer condition and quit her job as a newspaper reporter. With the new season approaching, it seems that the show is moving into a more lighthearted direction.

"Chasing Life" is a hit with ABC Family and has favorable ratings. TV Series Finale reported that the series had on average 1.0 million viewers.
