"Orange Is the New Black" actress Diane Guerrero urges Latinos to register to vote for the 2016 presidential election.

"I couldn't wait to turn 18 and register to vote. My vote is my voice and I am demanding to be heard," the Latina actress said in a YouTube video. "But there are millions of people who aren't registered to vote even though they are eligible. And if Latinos don't vote, politicians will ignore us. They won't pass fair immigration laws to keep our families together and they won't guarantee fair equal pay for women."

Guerrero tells the world she is ready to vote in the upcoming elections while urging others to be ready along with her.

"I am ready to prove to the politicians that we cannot be ignored," she said. "I am ready to vote in 2016 for myself and for my family. Let's show that we are ready. Register to vote today."

The actress wrote an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times last year telling the world that her parents were deported when she was just 14 years old.

"My parents came here from Colombia during a time of great instability there," the star said. "Escaping a dire economic situation at home, they moved to New Jersey, where they had friends and family, seeking a better life, and then moved to Boston after I was born."

She recalled the struggle her parents went through trying to become legal in the United States. Yet, scammers continued to take their money while selling them a dream.

"They lost their money to people they believed to be attorneys, but who ultimately never helped," she admitted. "That meant my childhood was haunted by the fear that they would be deported. If I didn't see anyone when I walked in the door after school, I panicked."

Guerrero had to take care of herself after her parents were deported along with her older brother. She watched as some family members that shared the same situation followed the wrong path because of instability.

So many other children are going through the same struggle Guerrero had to experience when she was a teenager. Some voters are hoping that a fair immigration reform is on the way in the near future.
