Is Oscar De La Hoya truly thinking of returning to the boxing ring after he already said that he's "never going back"?

The "Golden Boy," who was last seen after a loss via technical knockout from Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao in 2008, is indeed considering a comeback. The 42-year-old Hall of Famer shared that he misses the adrenaline rush of fighting great boxers, but if he ever comes back, he wants that his return will be deserving of his time.

"It's got to be worth my while but this is very serious. I have to make sure I am fighting the very best. I don't have to come back for financial reasons or the lights or the glamour. The only reason I would come back is because I miss the competition of fighting the very best," the legendary De La Hoya told ESPN.com on Monday.

"I think about Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. If [Leonard] could do it, why can't I?" the Barcelona Olympics gold medalist boxer added. Leonard came back in 1987 after three years of retirement and defeated Hagler in 1987 via a split decision.

On his Twitter account, De La Hoya revealed the names of the boxers he wishes to face next.

"I want to fight one of them because they are the best and I always fought the best. That's what boxing is all about - fighting the best," explained De La Hoya.

Mayweather already challenged De la Hoya to face him in September a week ago, as seen in a video interview by Kel Dansby of BlackSportsOnline, posted on Instagram.

Yet, for De La Hoya to face Mayweather, it just logically means that a battle between the "The Money" and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin should happen in September, with Mayweather beating the great Kazakh.

But it seems Mayweather is not interested in fighting Golovkin. The undefeated boxer is unimpressed with the reigning WBA and IBO middleweight champion despite his 33-0 win-loss record, and 30 wins via knock outs.

"Even with me being at my weight, I'm just too smart..He's [Golovkin's] a solid puncher, but he's straight up and down...really no special effects, at least not to me. You could see him coming straight ahead," Mayweather Jr. said, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

For "GGG," a fight with De La Hoya is very welcome and he is prepared whenever, wherever.

"I have a great deal of respect for Oscar. He was a great champion and a huge star in the sport..If he decides to fight me, I'm ready as soon as possible. It would be another big drama show," Golovkin told ESPN on Monday night.
