A talent search called "Menudo: En Busca de la Nueva Generación" is preparing to find the next latin pop group using the social media.

Showpitch, the website hosting the competition, announced the search will begin accepting submissions from boys between the ages of 10 to 15 next week.

"The Menudo talent search comes at a time when the digital era is in its prime with millennials interacting on social media more than ever," Showpitch founder J.P. Fatta said. "Showpitch.com was created to give undiscovered talent opportunities to connect with industry insiders, showcase their work and ultimately get discovered. The Menudo talent search is just one example of how brands can partner with Showpitch, and together can help launch the careers of aspiring talent."

The original Menudo was a Puerto Rican boy band formed in the 1970s. The group would have a variety of members throughout the years, one of them being singer Ricky Martin, who joined the group in the '80s. Martin stayed with the group for five years and eventually launched a successful solo career.

However, while still with the group Martin had a lot of success.

According to Billboard, Menudo sold millions of records worldwide and had many sold out stadium performances during their peak. They are considered one of the most successful and influential boy bands of all time.

Over the years there have been several attempts to launch a new Menudo. In 2007, MTV created the reality series "Making Menudo" which launched a second group featuring members of various Spanish-speaking backgrounds. The group released an album, but disbanded in 2009.

Those who submit to the current competition will have to make it to the Top 25 to then be flown to Miami, Florida for the finals. Those who do will perform in front of judges, who will choose the top five. Each remaining finalist will be offered a recording contract and will be part of the new Menudo.

Martin is currently looking for his own boy band of his own. He is set to serve as a judge on Univision's new singing competition, "La Banda," which features Simon Cowell, who put boy band One Direction together on the "X-Factor," as executive producer.
