An iOS 8.3 jailbreak was released this week by the TaiG team.

While it initially did not work properly with Cydia, a fix was released to allow jailbreak tweaks to work again, according to GottabeMobile.

The TaiG jailbreak was not considered a final release when it came out Tuesday. The jailbreak worked with Cydia, but tweaks would not work properly because the Cydia Substrate did not support the iOS 8.3 jailbreak that TaiG just released.

TaiG needed to release an update for the jailbreak that would give support for the Cydia Substrate. This took just a couple of days and, as of Thursday, the jailbreak has been updated and the tweaks work as well.

The jailbreak that was released Tuesday will need to be updated to version 2.1 in order for the jailbreak and tweaks to work properly together.

This update to version 2.1 should also solve the issue that many users were experiencing that caused them only to get to 20 percent completion with the jailbreak.

Here are the instructions on how to jailbreak an iPhone, according to Lifehacker. This jailbreak is currently only working for Windows devices.

  1. Download the TaiG Jailbreak tool (Windows only).
  2. On the iOS device, go to settings > Touch ID and Passcode > Turn Passcode Off
  3. Go to settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone (turn off this feature)
  4. Plug the iOS device into the computer and launch the TaiG jailbreak tool
  5. Uncheck the 3K assistant option and leave Cydia checked
  6. Click start and the tool will be installed

This jailbreak should work until Apple releases a security patch that could make it useless. Apple is set to release one more iOS version before releasing iOS 9. iOS 8.4 will be released sometime this summer, which means that Apple could find a way to increase its security of jailbreaks. If Apple does this, jailbreak users are advised not to upgrade to the latest version of iOS.
