Robert Rodriguez, El Rey Network Launch The People's Network & Multi-Platform Initiative 'The Epic Summer Movie Contest'
Have you ever wanted to be a part of the creative genius behind an epic, summer blockbuster? You now have a chance to get your big break and be a part of the movie magic.
El Rey Network, Robert Rodriguez's English speaking general-entertainment channel, announced today the official launch of The People's Network, "a new digital platform for creators, makers, and fans to showcase their talents and get the break of a lifetime."
It also includes multiple mediums of submissions including artwork, ideas, short films and more.
If you are a visionary with a creative flair and an aficionado of the classics, then you know that a blockbuster poster is iconic -- from "Jaws" to "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Jurassic Park" to "The Godfather." Not only are these films legendary in their own right, but their blockbuster posters have withstood the test of time and are ingrained in most of our brains.
With that said, The People's Network is kicking off its multi-platform initiative with "The Epic Summer Movie Contest" (in partnership with Corona Extra) which is to design "the ultimate movie poster, reflecting how they embrace summer in the most epic way."
So if you're surfing, swimming, skydiving, or just being a beach bum, the creative in you will recognize that there is always a story to capture, and that it could be worthy of a summer blockbuster.
Rodriguez knows a thing two about needing to get a break in Hollywood, so he wants to pay it forward and help other aspiring filmmakers.
"I am honored to be able to provide such an incredible platform for makers and jumpstart their careers with such an innovative challenge," Rodriguez, founder and chairman, El Rey Network, said, according to a press release. "When I started out, I didn't have this kind of support and by mentoring artists through 'The People's Network,' I have a chance to give back.'"
So how do you embrace summer in the most epic way? Let Mr. Maverick Filmmaker Rodriguez know what you have to bring to the table.
Rodriguez and his creative collective will determine the winning artist, who will be featured in an original vignette both on-air and online, and receive a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico. The winner will be announced late summer, 2015.
Deadline to submit via www.elreynetwork.com is Sunday, Aug. 9.
