The Loyal White Knights of the Pelham, North Carolina chapter of the Ku Klux Klan have reserved the Statehouse Grounds in South Carolina to stage a rally next month, protesting the widely called for removal of the Confederate flag.

Great Titan chapter leader James Spears told Politico the group will be demonstrating to call attention to "the flag being taken down for all the wrong reasons." He later reasoned, "It's part of white people's culture."

Debate over keeping the flag flying on state grounds has recently reignited after 21-year-old Dylann Roof walked into the historically African-American Emmanuel AME Church earlier this month and opened fire on the sanctuary of unsuspecting bible class worshipper, killing nine including the church's pastor.

Reports are Roof has since told authorities he was hoping to start a "race war" and read as many as 34 different manifestos from various white supremacist groups before committing the mass murder.

Nonetheless, South Carolina Budget and Control Board head Brian Gaines told Politico the group's request to use the grounds for the rally has been approved for July 18. Gaines added his office allows any group, regardless of ideology, the right to reserve the grounds on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Roof also posed alongside the Confederate flag in several photos he posted on social media prior to allegedly engaging in the shooting. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is among a slew of bipartisan state and federal lawmakers now calling for the flag's removal. The South Carolina Legislature is expected to formally rule on the issue sometime next month.

Meanwhile, the Pelham chapter boldly displays the flag on its website and has recently changed its home page to highlight its staunch opposition to the flag's removal.

"Say No to Cultural Genocide," a post on the site reads, raging that "most groups out there and especially white people are to [sic] cowardly to stand up for their heritage."
