Defending champions Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams will return to the grass court Wednesday as they continue their quest for another victory at the SW19.

The Serbian will enter the second round to face Finnish player Jarkko Nieminen after he successfully beat Philipp Kohlschreiber in the opening game of Wimbledon on Monday.

The 28-year-old took his first game in stride after defeating the German in two straight sets and will hope to replicate the victory against Finland's No. 1 player.

Nieminen won against 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt in their opening day match to advance to the next round. His game against the Serbian is the seventh time the two will face each other.

Djokovic lost to Nieminen in 2009 in Sydney but has dominated the other five. Four of these were even won in straight sets, including their match in the recently concluded French Open, noted Live Tennis.

The defending champion will meet the 33-year-old Finnish at 1 p.m. on Centre Court.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams will face Hungarian player Timea Babos after she defeated Margarita Gasparyan in two straight sets on Monday.

The 35 Grand Slam titles holder was determined to make an impact on her opening game, and she did just that.

"She came out so fast," said Williams of Gasparyan to Los Angeles Times. "I was like, 'Oh my God, if I don't start I'm going to be down a set.' And I'm tired of being down a set."

Her victory against the Russian made her winning streak to 22 matches, which the player is looking to extend again after her match with Babos today.

This is the first time the two will meet in a match and is also the first time the 22-year-old Hungarian has reached the second round of any Grand Slam event, according to Bleacher Report.

Wimbledon 2004 champion Maria Sharapova will also return in action on the third day of matches in London against Richel Hogenkamp, hoping to advance to the third round.

The former Olympian defeated Johanna Konta in easy straight sets despite her absence in any warm-up matches leading to the Grand Slam event.

"It was my first competitive match in about four weeks, so I just wanted to start off really strong, not knowing much about my opponent, just the results she had last week," said Sharapova to Live Tennis.

The 28-year-old is looking to add another Wimbledon title to her list. Since her victory in 2004, Sharapova had a hard time repeating that success, managing to reach two semifinals and another finals match in 2011.

On the other hand, Dutch player Hogenkamp's victory over Qiang Wang in the first round of this year's tournament was her first ever win in the prestigious London event.
