In what appears to be a resurgence of interest surrounding the mystery and intrigue of the infamous Charles Manson murders back in 1969 of pregnant movie star Sharon Tate and her other famous houseguests, Lifetime has greelit a new TV movie that will focus on the girls of the Manson family, according to Deadline.

The movie will be a non-fiction story based on the real life events that shocked the nation back in 1969 and brought about the end of the counter-culture movement at the time.

The story will be focused on the girls' point-of-view, who were famously brainwashed by Manson. He was a master-manipulator whose talents seemed to work very well on women during that period of time.

What was so shocking about the Manson killings was that Manson himself was not really there. He had convinced three girls and one man -- Linda Kasabian, Leslie Van Houten, Susan Atkins and Tex Watson -- to go out and do his bidding. It appeared as though Watson was sent along to keep the girls on task, but he also participated in the killings.

Set to play the famous characters in the movie are MacKenzie Mauzy (Kasabian), Eden Brolin (Atkins), Greer Grammer (Van Houten) and Christian Madsen (Watson) The role of Charles Manson will be portrayed on-screen by Jeff Ward.

This is not the first TV show that has tackled the 46-year-old crime story. Just recently, NBC launched a linear and non-linear adaptation of the Manson saga on its broadcast and online forum titled "Aquarius." This show has taken the unusual step of airing new episodes weekly with a full season available on their website for binge viewing.

Deadline reports that the series is said to start out with Kasabian's point-of-view, from the point she joined the Manson family on their sprawling hippie commune called Spahn Ranch. It outlines the late night "creepy-crawls" they did before elevating their criminal behavior to murder. This ended with the Tate-LaBianca murders, which occurred in close proximity to one another.
