Tulsa Shock all-star guard Skylar Diggins will miss the rest of the WNBA season after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament injury in last Sunday's game.

According to ESPN, the do-everything guard was hurt with just 44 seconds remaining on the clock in the Shock's win over Seattle, finishing the night with a season-high 31 points.

The blow comes as just the latest in a string of mishaps suffered by Tulsa ever since the franchise relocated from Detroit several years ago. Since making the move, the Shock have come out on the short end in several lopsided trades, gone through several coaching changes and proven unable to cash in on several lottery round draft picks.

None of that figures to compare to the extended loss of Diggins, averaging a team-high 18 points, five assists and five rebounds over her first eight games this season. The former Notre Dame star was also named the league's most improved player last season.

Team officials said Diggins will soon undergo reconstructive surgery, though date for the procedure has been finalized as of yet.

"I'm focused on getting healthy and stepping on the court even stronger," Diggins in a statement released by the team. "For the remainder of this season, I will continue to support my teammates in every way possible."

Owners of one the league's best records, the Shock (8-2) have already been forced to play extended stretches this season without second-year guard Odyssey Sims, who finished as runner-up for league rookie of the year honors last season. Sims injured her left knee in a June 9 win over Seattle and has yet to return.

"Can't call when I'll be back, but we'll see," she recently told the Tulsa World. "I'm just taking it day by day. Just missing being out there and just concentrating on trying to be back."
