When "Reign" Season 3 premieres in October, the addition of the English Court means more royal drama, as well as the introduction of new characters.

Rumor has it a new character is possibly joining the series as Queen Elizabeth's English Ambassador to France. While the title may sound diplomatic, the person will likely work as a spy, reports Entertainment Weekly. The ambassador will likely be one of the characters to visit both the English and French courts, which can only mean one thing: new romantic trysts and plenty of intrigue.

A handsome pirate named Martin will enter the French Court on his quest for a wife, according to E! News. There is talk that he is quite the womanizer, so whether or not he will settle down with a wife remains to be seen. Will he steal the heart of Kenna, Lola, Greer or possibly Mary? Could it be that he has something else on his agenda other than romance?

As it was previously reported, Queen Elizabeth's alleged lover, Robert Dudley, and his wife, Amy Dudley, will be some of the characters featured in the English Court. Robert and the Queen met as children -- they grew up together. He spends a great deal of his time with Elizabeth, though he insists their relationship is platonic. He is both a friend and adviser to the Queen. Nonetheless, Amy is worried about her marriage. Rumors allege a love affair between her husband and Queen Elizabeth. It seems likely the new season will explore Robert and Elizabeth's relationship, reports Spoiler TV.

"Reign" creator and producer Laurie McCarthy recently offered fans clues of what is to come between Leith and Greer. McCarthy confirmed that their relationship is over. If Greer married Leith, she'd become his property. She loves him, but she wants an income and independence. Since Leith did not approve of her occupation, she ended their relationship.

While we can only speculate on new romance for Greer, Leith will develop a closer relationship with someone he already knows.

"We'll come to see is a different kind of relationship that begins to form between Leith and Princess Claude," McCarthy said.

On July 3, a post to the "Reign" Facebook page shows a picture of Lola and Narcisse, along with the caption, "You can't fight what the heart wants," hinting that the unrequited love between the two characters will intensify in Season 3. We can only imagine what Catherine de Medici will do if she finds out.

"Reign" Season 3 premieres on Friday, Oct. 9, on The CW.
