According to new Florida poll released by the nonpartisan research firm Gravis Marketing, the top candidates favored to go head-to-head in the upcoming 2016 presidential election will be former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Gov. of Florida Jeb Bush.

A random telephone survey of 881 registered Democrats showed Hillary Clinton with 64.8 percent while Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has 20.6 percent.

The race is tighter for the Republican field as a random survey of 729 registered Republican Florida voters showed that Jeb Bush has the top spot with 27.5 percent, while Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has 23 percent.

The Cuban-American Rubio, who recently spoke out against real estate magnate turned celebrity politician Donald Trump's negative comments regarding Mexico, is reportedly feared in his ancestral land of Cuba.

As relations between the U.S. and the communist island thaw, the presidential candidates' outlook on Cuba will be significant for the island. According to The New York Times, a 66-year-old Cuban named Héctor Montiel fearfully speculated, “If Marco Rubio becomes president, we’re done for. ... He’s against Cuba in every possible way.”

The concerned Cuban citizen went on to say that Hillary Clinton would be much better since she understands much more “the case of Cuba,” before saying that Rubio and the Republicans, in general,  were still stuck in 1959.

“He wants to kill us,” screamed 46-year-old Alain Marcelo. “He’s our enemy.”

If a Cuban-American president is going to find any favor in Cuba these days, it might be Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who remains a virtual unknown there.

“Never heard of him,” said 34-year old Yadira Suárez.

With a mere 5.2 percent in the Gravis Marketing poll, it looks like many Florida Republicans are equally unaware of Cruz’s existence.
