"The Flash" second season might still be a mystery, but rumors seem to have a guess about one guest appearance.

Tom Welling is expected to reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, which he made famous over a successful 10-season campaign on the network's "Smallville" series, according to Heroic Universe.

Cameos by famous DC characters were also inherent on "Smallville" with repeated cameo appearances by the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman and other famous DC comic book heroes.

It seems, however, the DC Cinematic Universe and the DC Television Universe are sticking to different actors, which means it is likely Welling will show up as Superman, not Henry Cavill. The same is expected for a cameo to play out on the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" movie. That cameo will be by "The Flash," but it will not be played by Grant Gustin from the series. The character will be portrayed on the big screen by Ezra Miller, according to Inquisitr.

This of course lends credence to the theory Tom Welling could indeed be reprising his role as Superman in Season 2 of "The Flash."

The official description for next season, as reported by International Business Times, was released by The CW:

"Following the defeat of Barry Allen's arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?"
