Paul Andreas Wunderlich, Guatemalan-born and Texas-dwelling author of the Spanish-language fantasy series "Saga de una Flama Creciente," is a man of medicine and literature. A medical doctor by day and a passionate writer ...also by day, Wunderlich manages to flex his aptitudes in a way that shows there's no definitive left brain/right brain dominance for him.

In his youth, Wunderlich was a timid child interested in the minutiae of life. He privately saw value in the definition and uses of words; he was curious about the creation of the world; and he was attentive to the role words played in the world's advancement. That inquisitiveness manifested itself into two interdependent missions: use literature to create life and use medicine to sustain it.

"I had no idea that, within my youthful mind, two worlds were being harnessed: the scientific side of me that later on became the medical doctor I am today, and the artistic side that has always loved words and their use," Wunderlich, who's also known as Dr. Pablo Wunderlich Padilla, told Latin Post.

According to the author, behind every artist, every creator, there is a soul that's undergone some type of hardship, either emotional or physical. The collapse or uplifting of that soul then infuses every artistic moment and becomes a tool for self-exploration.

When Wunderlich writes, he begins by essentially writing a story to himself. His writing is reflected as a collection of uninhibited thoughts, which race toward the paper or screen "like sprites, comets and falling stars that are eager to meet the light of day." Those early moments in his writing process are the most vital and most artistic, where there are no boundaries, just him and the freedom to explore the depths of his imagination.

"When you see words bring an idea to life, you can trace its creation back to its origin within you. In this way you get to know yourself better, to understand that each and every character of your story is not a materialization of some unknown, but rather the solidification of yourself in a particular way; always consistent with the same essence," said Wunderlich. The author creates his characters out of necessity, to then realize he crafted them to recreate some inner vision of himself."

Wunderlich, who is a self-published author, credits Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) with allowing him to share his creativity with the world; otherwise his writing might've been confined to the hard-drive of his computer. The author shared that self-publishing established a bridge between him and his readers, allowing for spontaneous interaction and the eventual creation of a bond with readers whose minds are the "universe where stories come to life. Without it, those stories would be like a vacant seat in the theater."

Also, Wunderlich offered that even though indie authors might never meet the light of socially accepted success, they are truly successful when a story has met the world for the first time. Indie authors should simply write books that are the highest quality, never stop creating and never see success as a barrier to creating new stories.

"Cuando el Sol se Derrama," "Memorias en Purpúreas Malvas" and the four books within "Saga de una Flama Creciente" are some of the works that connected Wunderlich to his audience. Now, years after launching his writing career, he's continually flooded with ideas that eventually coalesced into bigger concepts. One of those concepts is his latest project, "The Actor."

"You could say this book in particular took me 15 years to create. I wrote it in 2 years, but to reach the level of creativity and ability to express what I did in no more than 150 pages took me that many years," stated Wunderlich. "The mature author I am today is thankful to the long years of hardship, of writing endlessly to achieve a single goal: the pristine presentation of a complex idea manifested as a simple book, easily read, easily digested."

"El Despertar de los Dragones," the fifth installment of "Saga de una Flama Creciente" is being completed by the author. Also, he's finishing the untitled sequel to "The Actor."
