'Fantastic Four' Reboot Release Date & Cast Update: Frozen's Josh Gad to Star as The Thing?

A lot of news stories have been circulating around about the cast members of director Josh Trank's reboot film of the "Fantastic Four". Cinemablend reports actors Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Saorise Ronan, and "Game of Thrones" stars Kit Harrington and Richard Madden are being considered for lead roles in the film.

But the question in everyone's mind is, who will play The Thing? You know, that orange guy who's basically a rock with lots of cracks on it.

That question was partially answered when Movies.com reported that "Frozen" voice actor Josh Gad is Fox's choice for Ben Grimm, aka The Thing. Although there are no formal announcements yet, casting circles who claim to be close to the film's production leaked this info.

But even though the actor is within the same age range as the other potential cast members, it's a bit hard to imagine Gad posing as the rough and tough The Thing, even when he was still in human form.

After all, he is currently known as the actor who brought life to the loveable snowman Olaf in "Frozen", which is miles away from Michael Chiklis' portrayal of Ben Grimm in the 2005 "Fantastic Four" film and its sequel.

But the reboot film's director did not waste any time in shutting down the rumors surrounding Olaf and his latest film. In another article on Cinemablend, a fan tweeted, "I am so very much a fan of Josh Trank, but if they cast Josh Gad as Ben Grimm this movie's gonna really have to work to win me back."

Trank quickly replied, "first I'm hearing of this...it's not true."

So there you have it. Gad will not be playing Ben Grimm. But who knows, maybe Trank's response was an attempt to keep fans speculating or the rumors might even give him an idea as to who will play his Thing.
