Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently opened up about his new role in CBS' "The Good Wife," answering questions about whether his character will be "the new Kalinda" or Alicia Florrick's new love interest.

In wake of Archie Panjabi's departure from "The Good Wife" last season, it has been revealed that Morgan has signed on to play Alicia's new hire in Season 7. The "Extant" star will play a calm and experienced investigator named Alex. However, in addition to working in Alicia's new firm, there is also speculation that he will become her love interest.

When asked if a romance will spark between Alex and Alicia, Morgan told TVLine, "I don't know. I haven't been told that." He added, "I know there's a lot of speculation."

He did, however, admit that there is an instant chemistry between the two and that Alicia is "intrigued by his personality."

TVLine also asked the actor if it was fair to dub Alex as "the new Kalinda." Morgan responded saying, "I haven't watched a lot of episodes of 'The Good Wife.' I never even saw the show until I signed on, and then I watched seven episodes. I know he's an investigator that goes to work for Alicia. Beyond that, it's a little bit of a mystery. I've only read the first script."

The actor went on to describe his character as "an ex-lawyer who got into some trouble and finds himself now being an investigator. He's got a laid-back personality and a quick wit. I like that kind of dynamic. And I think it will be a nice dynamic for Julianna to play off of," he said.

In addition to new cast members, series star Julianna Margulies unveiled on Facebook photos that viewers can expect to see Alicia working at a new in-home office and sporting a new wig.

During an interview with David Letterman, Margulies said she gets new hair piece every year.

"We get a new wig every season, because they need to be changed or whatever. ... You have to freshen it up, and she [Alicia Florrick] has different haircuts sometimes, too," she said, reports E! News.
