In what appears to be the most-anticipated episode of the season, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelson) is finally behind bars and the story has progressed to the original source material by novelist Thomas Harris.

This Saturday, July 25, "Hannibal" will feature the episode "The Great Red Dragon" and will air at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC, according to TV Guide.

This episode is in the penultimate arc of the series, which has been cancelled by NBC and moved to the Saturday night time slot. The arc will only be second to the imminent tragedy of Will Graham's (Hugh Dancy) personal life that Lecter sets in motion while locked up.

This case involves Francis Dolarhyde, who is portrayed on-screen by Richard Armitage, according to Zap2it.

Dolarhyde commits a series of murders in the south and has been dubbed "The Tooth Fairy" for his modus operandi (M.O.). The M.O. is what causes Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) to seek the help of Graham. But it is not exactly to have him investigate the case, but rather consult with the incarcerated Lecter.

His thinking is that Lecter will be more responsive to Graham, considering the mutual affection both have for each other. But that could also lead to Graham's ultimate betrayal by the famed cannibal.

The preview for the episode seems to remain true to the Harris' novel, which is the first of the series of Lecter books. It actually predated "Silence of the Lambs" by nearly seven years.

Characters from the novel have already made appearances in the show, such as tabloid journalist Freddy Lounds. Lounds was a male character in the book, but in the series has experienced a gender swap and is portrayed on-screen by Lara Jean Chorostecki. Suffice it to say, no matter what gender the character is, Lounds will experience one of the most excruciating deaths on the show if it remains authentic to the book.
