It has been a really good year for U.S. women's soccer star Alex Morgan. Today, it has gotten even better as she will be the first American female player to appear on a FIFA game cover.

Fox Sports reports that Morgan will be on the cover of the upcoming "FIFA 16" game. She will be the first female in U.S. history of the game to be placed on the cover, appearing on the cover of the United States version next to Argentine superstar Leonel Messi. You can check out the look of the cover below:

When asked about her being on the cover of FIFA, Morgan was simply overwhelmed with emotion. She stated: "It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA SPORTS' FIFA, I know people all over the world play this game and I'm really excited that 'FIFA 16' is putting such an important spotlight on women's soccer. And now to share the cover with today's greatest player is surreal."

The cover was revealed during Monday morning's Sportscenter on ESPN. Christine Sinclair, who is the captain of the Canadian National Soccer Team, will be on the cover of the Canadian version of the game.

"FIFA 16" will be in stores on Sept. 22 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

New to the game is the ability to play as the women's national soccer team. It is the first time in the history of the franchise that players will get to play as women.

Morgan recently underwent minor knee surgery to remove a plica, a small fold in the lining in the knee joint, which can cause irritation.
