Oh, that Cassie Ventura and the trouble she brings -- Diddy's latest girl-toy sparked rumors of her impending engagement to the rap mogul when he posted a photo of a purported "engagement ring," but the artist formerly known as Sean Combs quickly struck down the rumors of the engagement!

According to the New York Daily News, Diddy started it off by posting a photo of an engagement ring on his Instagram with the caption "Baby do you like it? I just want to get you wat you Like! I just wanna Mk you smile :) #takeDat!"

Immediately, the signs began pointing to Diddy asking Cassie -- with whom he's been in a relationship since 2007 -- to be his dearly beloved wife, even though in the past, Diddy has made it clear that he has no intentions of ever getting married.

Cassie even went so far as to respond to the proposal with the comment "I'm definitely smiling. It's PERFECT!" She then posted a photo of the two of them together, where she's smiling and holding "that" hand up, which showed a sparkler on her ring finger. It's unclear whether the ring on her finger was the same ring posted on Diddy's Instagram, or it was a totally different ring altogether.

However, when contacted by the UInterview, a spokesman for Diddy vehemently denied that he was engaged to Cassie, or that he ever had any intention of asking for her hand in marriage. The rumors around the couple's purported engagement have been swirling since they first began dating in 2007... even though they haven't been "publicly" dating since 2012.

Cassie's self-titled debut studio album was released in August 2006, peaking at number four on the Billboard 200 chart, and features the Billboard Hot 100 top three hit "Me & U," which became a major hit. She began work on her second studio album in 2007 releasing three singles; "Official Girl" featuring Lil Wayne in August 2008, "Must Be Love" featuring Diddy in April 2009, and "Let's Get Crazy" featuring Akon in August 2009, which all failed to chart in the USA. In late 2009 Cassie signed a record deal with Interscope Records. On Apr. 11, 2013 Cassie released her debut mixtape RockaByeBaby, which was promoted with the release of "Numb" featuring Rick Ross and "Paradise" featuring Wiz Khalifa.
