Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence's X-Men character Mystique (Raven) is pictured on the front cover of the March issue of Empire Magazine to promote the upcoming action movie X-Men: Days of Future Past which is set to debut in theaters on May 23. The movie will feature celebrity co-stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry and Ellen Page.

"I'm so excited because I'm going to wear a body suit," Lawrence said. "It will be from neck down so it will cut out time and the blisters." Her face will be turned into Mystique's through the use of computer graphics although the character only occasionally wears clothes. "I'm naked," Lawrence said. "But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the '70s outfits." In the magazine cover, the character Mystique is portrayed as naked with blue skin, flaming red hair and glowing yellow eyes.

Lawrence plays Mystique, a mutant with the ability to shape-shift. Director Bryan Singer was quoted as saying the character "is less innocent, evolved, getting closer to where Mystique was in X-Men 2. We've seen her [Mystique] in the future and what she becomes and this is kind of a turning point for her."

For the prequel movie X-Men: First Class, Lawrence underwent several hours of makeup to become the blue shape-shifting mutant. "Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we're still using the same paint," she added. "But she's different in this film too. She was struggling -- like a lot of normal humans -- with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud."

A writer for Screenrant wrote that the title Days of Future Past "remains one of the most famous and celebrated X-Men storylines of all time."

"Days of Future Past was also an X-Men story that dealt with time travel and multiple timelines, meaning that director Matthew Vaughn and Fox could be (finally) trying to organize the convoluted continuity of the X-Men film franchise, using a tactic similar to what J.J. Abrams did with his Star Trek reboot."
