This Friday, kids and kids at heart can check out The Lego Movie when it hits theaters nationwide. In anticipation of this release, Warner Brothers held a premiere party for cast and crew at Los Angeles' Regency Village Theater.

Almost all of the stars of the movie were in attendance, including Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks and Morgan Freeman. Directed and co-written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, and starring the voices of Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman, the film is based on the Lego line of construction toys and is scheduled to be released on Feb. 7, 2014.

In the Lego universe, an ordinary mini-figure named Emmet is mistaken as being the Special (the greatest Master Builder who can save the Lego universe). With the help of an old wizard named Vitruvius, and a tough young woman named Wyldstyle, Batman, Uni-Kitty, Benny, and a pirate named Metalbeard, Emmet will have to unlearn everything he saw in the instructions and discover the power of imagination to defeat the evil tyrant Lord Business, who is bent on destroying the Lego universe on Taco Tuesday and recreating it as he sees fit by gluing it together.

The film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 100% of critics gave the film a positive review based on 30 reviews, with an average score of 8.4/10. The site's consensus states: "Boasting beautiful animation, a charming voice cast, laugh-a-minute gags, and a surprisingly thoughtful story, The Lego Movie is colorful fun for all ages." On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 based on reviews from critics, the film holds a score of 85 based on 15 reviews, indicating what the website considers to be "universal acclaim."
