Undefeated boxer and International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Kell Brook wants a summer fight with fellow British boxer and World Boxing Council Silver welterweight title holder Amir Khan.

"The Special One" feels excited and thinks that the elusive Khan will just be one win away from his grasp, meaning after fall, there's a great chance they will meet on the ring early next year.

"I know that talks are on the way. It looks like British fans might finally get the fight that is well overdue. I'm due to fight in October and I think he is expected to fight in November, so let's get those wins and build towards a huge summer showdown next year," Brook told Sky Sports.

Brook's camp, through his promoter, Eddie Hearn, reached out to Khan for a potential match with his fighter after TMZ Sports reported that Floyd Mayweather Jr. picked former WBC champion Andre Berto to clash with him on Sept. 12, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

"King Khan" confirmed to The National that he and Brook's promoter were able to discuss the proposed fight, which could be staged at the Wembley Stadium in the United Kingdom, through the Khan Promotions and Matchroom Promotions in 2016, rather than this year.

However, the Bolton native maintained his position that before such clash will materialize, Brook must be ready to prove his worth by first winning against big name fighters in boxing.

"I have made it clear to Eddie that I want this fight to be a big fight worldwide, not just in the UK. I told him Kell needs to fight a couple of big names and beat them, obviously. That will make our fight even bigger," Khan told the outlet.

Brook vs. Khan for fall, instead?

Brook's dream of defeating Khan in front of English fans in U.K. might be postponed 'till fall next year if the fight with the Filipino icon, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, pushes through.

"Bob Arum has contacted my team to fight Manny Pacquiao around March or April in Dubai. Let's see how that develops... Since Floyd is running scared, I want Pacquiao in 2016 when he is back from his injury; 2016 will be Amir Khan's year; you will see me in two of the biggest fights in that year," Khan said in his interview with The National.

However, with "Pacman" still recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained before his fight with Mayweather and a possible hectic schedule if he decides to run for a senate seat in the Philippine elections in May 2016, the two British boxers could be set for the fight early next year.

How about a Brook vs. Mayweather event?

Former welterweight champion Ricky Hatton recently told World Boxing News that Brook, along with Khan and Danny Garcia, should have been chosen instead of Berto for Mayweather's September fight.

Hatton even believed that "Brook would be a better fight than Berto as he's on the way up." Hatton also speculated that because Brook is "young and undefeated," and since Mayweather hasn't displayed his best fighting form in his recent matches, the world's highest paid athlete opted to face Berto.
