The film "Black Mass" is an explosive true account of the exploits of the real-life James "Whitey" Bulger and the rise of his criminal empire in the Boston area in the 1970s. A new trailer was just released for this scary and realistic thriller starring Johnny Depp in the lead role. The new ad reveals that the FBI had a hand in helping Bulger create his lethal organization, according to Deadline.

The film's first trailer, which was released back in April, gave fans a chilling look at Depp's portrayal of the notorious Boston mobster. Bulger is definitely a departure from the roles that audiences have come to expect from the famous actor. He did not sugarcoat anything about the ruthless gangster and his portrayal appears to be both shocking and terrifying to say the least.

The new trailer focuses less on Bulger and more on the corrupt FBI agents that helped him succeed in the murderous underworld. Bulger's deadly reign spanned four decades, from the 1970s to the 2010s, but in the beginning, he was just another small time thug. It wasn't until he became an FBI informant that he saw the opportunity to rise up and become the most powerful man in the Boston crime world.

Bulger went on to rule the underworld harshly, with little tolerance or mercy for anyone standing in the way of his absolute criminal control. He eventually disappeared to evade capture and successfully avoided punishment for nearly 20 years before being apprehended.

Depp's chilling portrayal of the crime boss seems award-worthy based on the trailer alone. He will be joined onscreen by an all-star cast that includes Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, W. Earl Brown, David Harbour, Dakota Johnson, Julianne Nicholson, Corey Stoll, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Scott and Juno Temple.
