The rumors have been confirmed: House of Cards will be back on Netflix for a third season.

The show's Twitter account posted a tweet with a photo attached to it, previewing the Season 2 premiere on Feb. 14. However, the caption was what grabbed everyone's attention: "House of Cards will return to the Netflix for a 3rd season #OneNationUnderwood"

The first season consisted of 13 episodes, which started on Feb. 1, 2013.

The show is unique in that it is a Netflix exclusive as opposed to other popular shows on Netflix, which are a product of various cable television stations. The most popular show on Netflix has been Breaking Bad, an AMC-based show that has already inspired a spinoff prequel called Better Call Saul.

Despite the fact that House of Cards is online only, it has fared well in a time when more and more people are opting to watch shows on their computer or tablets.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix said that production for the third season is going to begin soon. This may not come as a surprise to the people who have watched the show grow in popularity ever since it started, but it originally started as a two-year project for Netflix. It has clearly surpassed expectations as evident with the announcement of the third season.

Among the actors in the show include Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Corey Stoll, Michael Kelly, Sakina Jaffrey, Kristen Connolly, Constance Zimmer, and Sebastian Arcelus.
