The companion show for the mega-hit series "The Walking Dead," which is "Fear the Walking Dead," will tie up some loose ends that the original series had left unanswered. There will also be an Easter egg in season 2 that will tie the show in to the original series.

According to Deadline, "Fear the Walking Dead" is supposed to be not just a prequel series, but also an answer series. Fans have long had lingering questions about the fall of civilization in "The Walking Dead."

Given the strength of the American government and its obvious ability to forcefully remove the "walkers," how did society collapse?

Questions like that will be answered throughout the episodes of the companion series. Fans will get to see how the apocalypse began and how the "walkers" were able to take over the world so quickly, including the greatest and most powerful nation on earth.

Although the show will be mostly focused on the families that are just trying to survive the impending doom, these protagonists will also witness themselves what led to the fall of civilization. Showrunner Dave Erickson was at the Television Critics Association panel and spilled a few details.

"We come to realize the world has changed, but our characters are still insulated from all of what has happened," Erickson said. "Part of what they will see in Season 2 will be that."

He also said that "Fear" will show what the military response looked like and how the government reacted to the outbreak that so quickly overtook the country.

Executive producer David Alpert noted that in season 1, there are no plans to do any crossovers, and for the most part, season 2 has no plans to do any as well. But he did tease the fans that there may be an Easter egg from "The Walking Dead" planted into season 2. He did not elaborate or give any other clues than that, but instead left fans to simply wonder what he meant.
