Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has finally decided to talk to the New York Giants, a few weeks after he got injured during a fireworks-related accident on July 4, in Florida.

After the incident, several reports claimed that the extent of his hand injury led to the removal of his right index finger and a fractured thumb.

Giants team owner John Mora, even before news surfaced on JPP's surgical procedure, revealed that he tried to talk to his franchise-tagged player right after he heard about the mishap, New York Post informed. The Southern Florida native did not answer Mora's calls but he immediately sent a reply via text, stating that he will be all right.

However, when the Giants sent Ronnie Barnes, the team's respected senior vice president of medical services, and special assistant, former Giants linebacker Jessie Armstead, to visit JPP, they were shocked after getting barred from talking to their player.

"The fact that they went down there and hung around for two days and were not allowed to see him was very disappointing to me," Mara told the Post.

Recently, NFL.com reported that JPP has already been contacted by the Giants' executives, citing the Post's Paul Schwartz.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese shared on WFAN radio that he was able to talk to JPP via phone. Reese also stated that he was able to talk to JPP's agents.

The general manager did not reveal much about his recent correspondence with JPP and even labeled it as "personal" and "private." Reese maintained that the team, despite recent reports saying Mora was really "disappointed" when Pierre-Paul did not report to training camp, would remain understanding of what their injured player is going through.

"When something like that happens, you really don't want to see anybody. I get it. So we're not pissed off. We're not mad about any of it. We just want to say, 'We're here for you. We want you to get well. Whatever resources we can offer you, that's what we want to do,'" Reese shared to WFAN.

Giants coach Tom Couglin admitted that he has yet to talk to their star defender, but was relieved that JPP is now opening up to the other people in the team.

"As long as he's talking to Jerry or somebody in the building, it looks like there's a chance that the communication can open up. If it does, I'll get on the phone with him, I'm sure," Coughlin said on Monday, after practice.

As for his possible return date, sources told ESPN that there is still no timetable at this point.
