George Takei is best known for playing Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek, but the actor is far from a space case. Recently, he took part in a very revealing interview where he took a quick jab at one of Hollywood's favorite hunks, Ryan Gosling.

This week, Huffington Post gave Takei  its "#nofilter" Q&A, where interview subjects are supposed to answer questions quickly and honestly. When asked what he thought was overrated these days, Takei first responded with "I wish you gave me multiple-choice," but once given the example of twerking, Takei was able to come up with a surprising answer.

"But what's overrated ... I know, actors," he said. "I don't know what all this hoo-ha about Ryan Gosling is about. He's more often boring than not."

Gosling's biggest movies include Drive, Crazy, Stupid, Love., Ides of March and Half Nelson, which earned the actor an Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Takei, however, does not think the 33-year-old meets the same high standard as other A-listers.

"I mean, he's an alright actor, but I don't think he's as gripping and compelling as people like Matt Damon or George Clooney," Takei continued.

The Free Birds voice actor has no problem with selfies, on the other hand.

"I think selfies are fine," he explained. "I get asked all the time to take a selfie. I can't walk down the street without posing for at least a dozen selfies. You know, because people recognize me."

Takei's acting resume dates back to the late 1950s with Playhouse 90, but he's not stuck in the old days. In fact, the 76-year-old is a big Twitter fan.

"Well, Twitter is the town square of the 21st century," Takei said. "It's great for conversations, even though you get the criticisms from which you learn from sometimes and other times you just ignore because there are always the trolls there to deal with."

Gosling has yet to respond to Takei's interview.
