Mexican boxing superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez found a supporter in Miguel Cotto's former rival, Antonio Margarito.

Margarito, who expressed his desire to return to professional boxing after almost four years of absence, predicted that "Canelo" who will emerge as the victor on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, reported Boxing Scene.

According to Margarito, Canelo, who will look to win the World Boxing Council middleweight title, could even knock Cotto out within 10 rounds, the returning boxer told ESPN Deportes.

"I even think he can knock [Cotto] out in about 10 rounds or win on points, but he will win," Margarito said, as quoted by Boxing Scene.

The former champion noted that Canelo, who is coming off a knockout victory against James Kirkland in May, impressed him because of how he became a better fighter through these years.

"Unlike many other people, I think Canelo has indeed improved. We've seen him get better and I think this fight comes at a time that suits him. He is young, strong, fast," the American-born Mexican said.

People may think that he was just saying these things because he is a Mexican, too. However, Margarito previously predicted that Canelo will not win against reigning pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their fight in September 2013. True enough, Alvarez lost via majority decision at the MGM Grand Arena against Mayweather.

Still, Margarito may also be in favor of Canelo since it was his defeat against Cotto in 2011 that made him retire after aggravating a previously injured eye, which he sustained during his fight against Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in 2010.

Yet, The "Tijuana Tornado" was quick to point that the Cotto does not have what it takes to put Canelo down. He insisted that the younger boxer is a bigger hitter than Cotto.

Margarito noted that his former tormentor became "more of a boxer" since hiring Freddie Roach as trainer. But other than that, there's nothing "much of a difference" in him.

Cotto's thankful of Roach

However, for Cotto (40-4,33KOs), he is grateful for Roach for training him since he was beaten by Austin Trout in 2012 , Bleacher Report informed in 2014.

"A lot of people have said that Michael Jordan wouldn't be Jordan without [Scottie] Pippen. I think I've found my Pippen in Freddie Roach," Cotto said.

Since hiring Roach as his trainer, he was able to get three consecutive victories against Delvin Rodriguez (2013), Sergio Gabriel Martinez (2014) and Daniel Geale (2015), and a WBC crown to boot, per BoxRec.
