"Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez hinted that fans can expect to see more drama in Season 2 of the popular comedy series.

As fans may recall, Rodriguez's character, Jane, dealt with a shocking conception, a bad breakup and the kidnapping of her son in Season 1. Rodriguez admits that Jane has dealt with a lot of challenges in the first season, "but she can handle it!" she told The Detroit News.

The Puerto Rican American actress also went on to say that she is excited about what's to come in Season 2 being that Jane will be a mom and get married. Plus, there will be a special guest appearance from pop icon Britney Spears.

"The possibilities are endless. I'm VERY excited to have Britney Spears on as a guest," said the series star. "And I'm excited to explore motherhood with Jane ... the issues of motherhood, especially at a younger age like Jane is, and wanting to preserve her dreams, wanting to preserve herself."

Actor Jaime Camil, who plays Rogelio on the show, also expressed excitement about Spears' guest role as his "nemesis."

"We're super excited to have her on the show," Camil recently told Access Hollywood. "And I think Jennie [Snyder Urman, the show's executive producer and creator] and her team of writers, they're going to write brilliant stuff for Rogelio and Britney to meet each other. It's going to be brilliant."

Camil added, "In Rogelio's mind -- and let me be very clear about that -- only in his mind, Britney is his biggest nemesis. So let's see what happens."

Rodriguez went on to tease that Jane will be reunited with her newborn son earlier on in the new season.

"We're going to resolve that really quickly," she promised."

Furthermore, the 31-year-old actress opened up about how the show has changed Eurocentric beauty standards.

"What's beautiful about 'Jane the Virgin' is that we have many forms of beauty and we never discuss why they need to be recognized, they just are," she said. "Jane is not your typical lead actress and we're not harping over what she looks like and what she wears. She's just a beautiful strong girl. She just happens to look not like our typical ingenue. I think that's very powerful."
