Fans desperate to hear new music from Demi Lovato were in for a treat when a new track called "Confident," from the singer's upcoming album, was leaked.

According to Billboard, the track, off of the singer's fifth studio album, was confirmed as Lovato's second single at the iHeartMedia summit earlier this month and was leaked in full on Sunday Aug. 23. A clip of the Max Martin-produced song appeared online on Aug. 21.

The 23-year-old star, who adopted a new sound and sexier style with the release of "Cool for the Summer," recently revealed to Cosmopolitan that she is one of a few female artists currently singing about how they really feel and not caring what other people think.

"There are a lot of girls in pop," said Lovato. "They have badass lyrics, but I feel like I'm the only person other than Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who isn't afraid to say, 'Try something on me and I'll f*cking beat your *ss.' There are people who can dress up and play the part, but their music doesn't say it."

The singer has had to defend her sexy new style. She recently defended her Cosmopolitan cover from critics, who took the time to slam the star's body and sex appeal, as well as from those hoping to censor the magazine.

The singer told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that, while she is okay with being a role model, she isn't going to sensor herself.

"The thing with my music, I've spent so long just kind of people pleasing, making everybody happy with being the best role model I can be," she explained. "At the end of the day, yes, I'm outspoken about the things I believe in: mental health, advocacy work, I have my own charity. I have all these things that make me a role model. But at the same time, none of these things are representing the badass that I am."
