While "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is undoubtedly the most hotly anticipated movie, there is a lot to be excited about regarding the other film slated for release from the venerated franchise.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" might be the most intriguing movie of all, as it has no major responsibility outside of living up to the Star Wars name. Whereas "Episode VII" carries the burden of not only reigniting the fanbase, but also continuing the Skywalker storyline, the spin off movie simply has to tell a unique story, while adding new details to the expansive universe.

Some of those details have been recently unveiled, with new images of the Storm Trooper helmets coming to the fore.

The image that has leaked showcased three different helmets. In the center is the iconic look of the soldiers from the original trilogy and the upcoming sequel trilogy. The masks that flank it, however, are the ones that draw the most interest.

The black mask to the left is reminiscent of the masks worn by the Republic clone troopers from the prequel trilogy. Since this film is set between Episodes III and IV, it would make sense to bridge the gap visually and show a transition from the republic's soldiers to the imperial storm troopers.

The image on the far right, a beige mask, is also reminiscent of the prequel trilogy's clone troopers. The outfit in question however is the one worn on the battle of Kashyyyk in "Revenge of the Sith." In that movie, the clone troopers also wore beige color. That scout uniform was the predecessor to the ones showcased in "Return of the Jedi" on the battle of Endor. The mask shown in the image is the likely transition between those two models.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is slated for a Dec. 16, 2016 release date.
