With Apple keeping mum on the updates regarding the release of their new phone, dubbed by the public as "iPhone 6," there are various rumors circulating as to the specs of the mysterious phone.

According to industry insiders, Apple's next generation iPhone my use a sapphire crystal glass that could contribute to increasing production costs thus driving up the price of the sought-after devices.

"The arrival of sapphire means a dramatic increase in the cost of making an iPhone, as sapphire is far more expensive than the present Gorilla Glass, but it remains unknown whether the price of a single iPhone will go up," said a report by SCMP.

SCMP reports that the iPhone's redesign will feature a larger screen and is expected to have two sizes, a 4.7 inch and a 5.5 inch. Featuring the sapphire crystal that is second to diamond in being the hardest material, the display of the iPhone 6 is said to hae a 441 pixel per inch (ppi) that is the same as its direct competitor the Samsung Galaxy S4.

An insider reveals that "the screens will be flat. Apple doesn't do anything until Samsung does it, and then they improve upon it."

The latest iPhone currently available in the market is the iPhone 5s which uses the sapphire crystal in the Home Button as well as its iSight camera. With reports coming in that the newest model could sport an entire front screen of the unbreakable material, only time will tell if this will drastically boost the cost of the iPhone that consumers will have to shoulder.

Apple is expected to release its newest product sometime in June to September and is highly anticipated by its loyal product followers. Presently, the iPhone 5s costs between $199 to $399 depending on the capacity with a two-year contract.
