For weeks there have been rumors about which characters would be teaming up in the forthcoming "Captain America: Civil War." Now the rumors have been confirmed.

New images have revealed which superheroes are siding with Captain America and which will counter him, alongside Iron Man.

For the most part the rumors have been confirmed. Captain America's assembled team included Hawkeye, Bucky Barnes, Ant-Man, Falcon and Sharon Carter. Meanwhile Iron Man gets War Machine, Black Panther, Black Widow and Vision. Black Panther was previously rumored to remain neutral and Carter was never actually mentioned previously as a member of either team. Now we know that there could be a love story in the film, as Sharon is known as the Captain's girlfriend in many comic books.

Of course, the assembly of teams does not account for the Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man or the Hulk. Based on the films themselves, one can infer that the Scarlet Witch, who blames Tony Stark for her parents' death, will likely be unwilling to join forces with him and will probably help Captain America.

As for the Hulk, he looks to be a candidate to fight alongside Captain America. Not only are they depicted as big buddies in the franchise film, but the blossoming romance with Black Widow should push Bruce Banner toward joining Team Iron Man.

Spider-Man is the anomaly of it all, as he is rumored to do battle with Captain America at some point in the film. However that does not place him in Iron Man's camp, and it is possible that he stays out of the fight.

As for why the Widow joins Iron Man, especially after developing a bond with Captain America in "Winter Soldier," remains the big question. It becomes all the more puzzling when you consider that she was best friends with Hawkeye and has a special bond with his family.

All of those questions will be answered on May 6, 2016 when the film hits theaters.
