Ellen DeGeneres has plans on presenting wife Portia de Rossi with what could be her very first professional film directing project.

"Ellen has every intention of making Portia's directing dream come true and she and her production company are actively looking for a script for Portia to make her directorial debut on," a source told Radar Online.

Reports are the powerful TV talk show host also insists on being an executive producer on any project the 42-year-old de Rossi comes to pursue. Added stipulation or not, reports are the tag-team plan appears to be having positive effects on the couple's long troubled relationship.

"Ellen's hands-on approach has made things way better between them," a source said of the couple, who recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary. "Portia's always happier when she's working and directing a TV show or movie has been a lifelong goal."

The cheerful news couldn't come at a more opportune time for the couple, whom several media outlets recently reported might be headed for divorce court.

In Touch Weekly recently reported the two were regularly arguing over rumors of Ellen's infidelity and Portia's rampant substance abuse. Even after recently returning from a vacation to South Africa, the two were rumored to be "fighting nonstop" over the direction of de Rossi's acting career.

"Right after they got back, they had a huge fight about Portia's career," said a source. "Portia told Ellen that once she starts filming 'Scandal' again, she'll be married to her job."

Apparently, that came as a bitter surprise to DeGeneres, who has long been rumored to seemingly control her wife's every move.

Rumors are the two have also recently clashed about the 57-year-old DeGeneres' burning desire to have more plastic surgery work done. Reportedly, DeGeneres hates the wrinkles around her eyes and her so-called "turkey neck," while de Rossi was convinced no more work was needed.
