Season 4 of "Arrow" will start off with a bang, as Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will immediately transform into the Green Arrow, all while trying to make his new relationship with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) work.

As fans may recall, at the end of Season 3, Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) claimed to be the man behind The Arrow so that Oliver would not get arrested by Det. Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne). Roy then faked his owned death to create the illusion that The Arrow was no longer alive, reports Cinema Blend.

As a result, Oliver cannot return to Starling City as The Arrow if he wants to avoid blowing his cover. Instead, he will have to become the Green Arrow. Along with the new name, he will also get a new costume, and may even adopt a new persona.

According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Oliver will embrace his new identity right from the start of Season 4.

"He can't be the Arrow anymore, because everyone believes that Roy Harper was the Arrow, and Roy Harper is dead, at least as far as everyone believes," the EP told Green Arrow TV. "So, he had to adopt a new identity. All of this is explained in the season premiere; we come straight out with it."

Meanwhile, Oliver will undergo a "big shift" in the upcoming season, now that he's in a relationship with Felicity, executive producer Wendy Mericle told HollywoodLife.com at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

"We sort of look at season four, not as a reboot, but sort of as a big shift for Oliver Queen's character. In this season, he's in a completely different place. He's happy, and in love!" she said, referring to his romance with Felicity.

She also teased that the couple will hit a few bumps in the road in their relationship.

"It's going to be challenging," said the showrunner. "It's going to be fun to see them maintain this relationship through the ups and downs of a lot of big challenges coming there way." Mericle added that fans should "hang in there, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. We'll see whether they weather the storm, but it's going to be fun its going to be exciting."

Mericle also said that, after endless debate over whether or not Oliver and Felicity should get together, the producers agreed that "it just felt like the way it needed to go, they were ready for it. That doesn't mean, obviously, [that] they'll always be together. In these things, nothing goes smoothly in Shakespeare or on our show in the course of love, and they're going to have their fare share of challenges, but it felt like the right time."

In the meantime, Blackthorne hinted that his character, Captain Lance, will have a hard time coping with the fact that his daughter, Sara (Caity Lotz), has been resurrected from the dead.

"Thanks to Laurel helping him see the light at the end of last season, Lance is back on the wagon for now, trying to keep on the straight and narrow," he told TVLine. "But that will of course be tested when Sara comes back from the dead. Because I think when your daughter's coming back from the dead, she may not necessarily come back as quite the same person. Yeah, that's going to be an issue for the family to deal with!"
