Although the first episode of "Fear The Walking Dead" started out with that slow burn effect, it was Episode 2 that really ratcheted up the tension and clearly showed that there will be at least two heroes in the show, according to Variety.

There is no better to say this, so fans just need to know that being a hero in "The Walking Dead" universe means prying the hands of a loved one off someone and rapidly racing them to safety. This of course played out in an unexpected way.

It was Madison and Travis that had to track down her daughter Alicia when the phones stopped working. She was at her boyfriend's house trying to take care of him. But once Madison and Travis arrive, they see that he's been bitten and even though the nature of the Walkers are still unclear at that point, they rip her from her boyfriend's bedside and whisk her away. Alicia says in a heartbreaking moment that she loves him before exiting and they simply leave him there to die.

It was a painful choice to make, knowing that her daughter would hate her for it, but it needed to be done in this new world that Madison and Travis both are quickly adapting to. They make no illusions about what is happening after seeing the reanimation of Calvin's corpse.

Cliff also needs to go in search of his son Chris at his ex-wife's house, but that proves to be useless.

Meanwhile, Madison nurses her junkie son Nick and searches the high school for some sort of illicit drug that will help him. Of course, she encounters the principal and has to bash his head in.

The episode ends with the cold chill of the night sounds. Not the sounds they're used to hearing, but rather the blood curdling sounds of people screaming and being ripped apart. The episode featured a few waves of Walker attacks, which occurred with Chris and Liza while at a protest. They holed up in a barbershop and also listened as the city fell apart to the pending apocalypse.
