Roger Federer will continue his chase for another Grand Slam title, while Andy Murray and Simona Halep will also see action on Day 2 of the 2015 US Open on Tuesday at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Federer, the second-seeded player in the men's draw, will go up against unseeded Leonardo Mayer of Argentina at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Federer, who is looking to finally win the elusive 18th Grand Slam title of his career, is heavily favored to win against Mayer on Tuesday. The Swiss tennis superstar has been playing well as of late and is coming off a successful campaign at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati last week.

According to top-seeded Serb Novak Djokovic, Federer should be considered as a heavy title favorite based on his performances in recent tournaments.

"He's playing some of the best tennis of his life," Djokovic said of Federer via ESPN. "Many people did talk about his career coming to an end after that season [2013] that was below his standard, but he came back stronger."

Meanwhile, Andy Murray will also open his campaign in the 2015 US Open on Tuesday. The fourth-seeded Briton will go up against unseeded Nick Kyrgios of Australia.

Murray, who was seeded third this year, is looking to win his third Grand Slam title and second at Flushing Meadows. He won the tournament in 2012, which was his first Grand Slam triumph. The Briton also ruled the 2013 Wimbledon.

In other notable men's matches, fifth seed Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland will collide with Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, while sixth seed Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic will go up against unseeded Bjorn Fratangelo of USA at the Grandstand.

In the women's draw, second seed Simona Halep will face Marina Erakovic of New Zealand at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Halep, who is coming off final stints in Toronto and Cincinnati, has not reached the finals of the tournament, a report on the tournament's official website indicated. Her best finish was in 2013, when she played in the fourth round of the tournament.

In other key women's matches, fourth seeded Caroline Wozniacki will try to avoid an upset against local bet Jamie Loeb, while sixth seed Lucie Safarova will go toe-to-toe with Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine.
