TV viewers can look forward to a new thrilling season of "Criminal Minds" and the introduction of Aisha Tyler's character when the suspense drama kicks off its 11th season this month.

A new promo video of the season 11 premiere reveals that the Behavioral Analysis Unit will track down a killer who "overwhelms his victims silently, and then injects them," says Derek Morgan in the teaser.

Aisha Tyler is also featured in the preview as Dr. Tara Lewis, a new forensic psychologist who joins the team since AJ Cook has been on maternity leave.

Tyler, who is currently a co-host on "The Talk," described Dr. Tara Lewis' role in the BAU.

"The people in the BAU are analyzing these unknown subjects trying to catch them, but my character analyzes them after they've been caught to make sure they're competent to stand trial," she said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Tyler also said that she "wanted her to look really different than how I look on 'The Talk,'" which explains why she decided to rock an edgy haircut on the series.

Although Tyler is filling in for Cook, showrunner Erica Messer confirmed that "there's still no one replacing Kate [Callahan.]" The FBI undercover agent, who was played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, left the show because Hewitt decided to take time off to spend with her new baby.

"But we're looking forward to the opportunity to bring in other 'good guys' to be guest stars," said Messer in light of Hewitt's departure. "Perhaps even via a second stint by Tyler, who will exit when Cook returns. We'd love to have her come play as often as possible, because she's amazing and she fit right in with the cast," said the EP.

The showrunner also teased that there are no current plans to bring back "Aquarius" actress Candace Hammer as the forensics whiz that caught Reid's eye, reports TVLine.

In addition, the crime drama has not been able to follow through on its wish to have Jane Lynch reprise her role as Reid's mother since the "Hollywood Game Night" has a new CBS comedy called "Angel From Hell" that will premiere this fall.

"We never seem able to get her!" cried Messer.

Season 11 of "Criminal Minds" will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
