The fifth "Bourne" movie has finally found its villain. Word is out that French actor Vincent Cassel has signed on to be part of the series that will see Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) make his way through Europe.

While details of the 48-year-old actor's character remain vague, Variety reports that Cassel will play the role of an assassin hired to track and eliminate Bourne.

This was not the first time Damon and Cassel worked together as the two were also part of the films "Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Thirteen" with Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

The Parisian actor is no stranger to villainous roles. He played the "manipulative ballet director" in "Black Swan," which starred Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman.

Cassel will now join the list of Clive Owen, Edgar Ramirez and Karl Urban, who all starred as Bourne's enemies in previous movies of the franchise.

Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander are also confirmed to be part of the cast. Julia Stiles will also return to reprise her role as CIA undercover agent Nicolette "Nicky" Parsons.

At this point, not too many details are known about the plot of the movie.

Damon recently hinted that the fifth film in the "Bourne" series and his fourth to star in will still tackle current political discussions "for its social commentary," as per Screen Rant

Aside from that, the Academy Award winner teased that the film will feature a strict Europe that has been affected by the post-Edward Snowden era.

"Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world," he told BuzzFeed.

The 44-year-old actor also revealed that part of his and director/screenwriter Paul Greengrass' inspiration to write the upcoming "Bourne" film is the story of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Damon said that the past movies all talked about the Bush presidency, and they felt it was high time to come up with a different storyline.

"It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy," he added.

The actor said that the movie will feature different locations including Greece, which he described as the "beginning of democracy." It will then move to Europe and finally to Las Vegas.

The fifth "Bourne" film will hit theaters on July 29, 2016, according to Screen Rant.
