WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was arrested and charged in the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino.

The 72-year-old former wrestler was arrested at his home in New Jersey and is being held on a $100,000 bond, Yahoo reported

On May 10, 1983, Snuka was taping a show for WWF (now known as WWE) in Allenstown, Pennsylvania, when he came to his hotel room and saw Argentino gasping for air and had "yellow ooze" coming from her mouth and nose. The autopsy concluded that Argentino suffered from more than two dozen cuts and bruises to her head, ear, chin, legs, back, arms, buttocks and feet that were caused by a force of an blunt object.

Snuka was a person of interest but was not charged with any crime. The Argentino family filed and won a $500,000 wrongful death settlement against Snuka but didn't get the money because Snuka was unable to pay.

Earlier that day, Snuka told close friends that he had shoved Argentino and she had fallen. He eventually changed his story that Argentino had fallen on her own.

Earlier this year, a grand jury in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania decided to reopen the case after seeing some discrepancies in the case. When Snuka called 911, he told investigators that Argentino slipped on the side of the highway. The autopsy results showed Argentino, who Snuka claimed hit her head on concrete, had no gravel or similar dirt particles on her head or scalp.

In his autobiography, Snuka says that Argentino's death haunts him every day. He stated, "Many terrible things have been written about me hurting Nancy and being responsible for her death, but they are not true. This has been very hard on me and very hard on my family. To this day, I get nasty notes and threats. It hurts. I never hit Nancy or threatened her."

Earlier this year, Snuka's wife announced that he is battling stomach cancer and is getting treatment.
