The nominees for the first ever Latin American Music Awards have been announced and they just further prove that 2015 is the year of Nicky Jam and J Balvin.

The popular reggaeton stars lead the list of nominations announced by Telemundo on Sept. 2, which also features a variety of artists from both Latin and mainstream American music that are sure to make the show one to definitely watch.

Puerto Rican and Dominican star Nicky Jam is nominated for six categories and J Balvin is up for five. Enrique Iglesias and Romeo Santos follow with four nominations each.

Nicky Jam and J Balvin are both up Favorite Urban Artist, with Don Omar, Daddy Yankee and Yandel, Favorite Streaming Song and Song of the Year.

The "El Perdón" singer is also up for Favorite Collaboration and is competing with his collaborator, Enrique Iglesias, for the Artist of the Year award.

Also up for Artist of the Year is Romeo Santos, who is also up for Favorite Tropical Artist, competing against Chino y Nacho, Juan Luis Guerra and Victor Manuelle, Favorite Tropical Song, and Record of the Year, which J Balvin is also up for. 

Balvin's hit "Ay Vamos" is up for Favorite Urban Song along with "Pierdo La Cabeza" by Zion & Lennox and "Sígueme y Te Sigo" by Daddy Yankee. The Colombian rapper is also up for the Best New Artist category, which also includes Maluma, Remmy Valenzuela and Chiquis Rivera.

Rivera leads the female artists with two nominations, including Best New Artist and Favorite Female Artist with Fanny Lu, Gloria Trevi, Natalia Jiménez and Paulina Rubio also nominated.

The musicians up for Favorite Male Artist are all seasoned music veterans. The nominees include Chayanne, Enrique Iglesias, Juan Gabriel, Marco Antonio Solís and Ricky Martin. 

Martin is also up for Favorite Song-Pop/Rock and Album of The Year, along with four time nominees Maná, Juan Gabriel and Gerardo Ortiz, whose also up for Favorite Regional Artist.

Nominations also include some for American music artists like Favorite Crossover Artist, which Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding, Meghan Trainor, Natalie La Rose and OMI are all nominated for and Favorite Dance Song which includes Skrillex, Major Lazor, Zedd, Selena Gomez and DJ Snake, reports Billboard.

Telemundo will televise the Latin American Music Awards on Oct. 8.
