Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka, Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova will go up against lower-seeded opponents in the quarterfinals of the 2015 US Open on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows.

Federer, the second seed in the men's draw, will go up against 12th seed Richard Gasquet of France in the main game at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday night.

Federer booked a spot in the quarterfinals after scoring a straight-set win against 13th seed John Isner of United States in the fourth round, while Gasquet pulled off a four-setter upset against sixth seed Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic on Monday.

Federer, who is looking to win his 18th Grand Slam title and his first since the 2012 Wimbledon, is a heavy favorite heading into the match, but the Swiss superstar is wary of Gasquet.

"I'm not sure if I've seen maybe Gasquet play as well as he has right now," Federer said. "I really like the way he played in Wimbledon, and also now here. I haven't seen that much. But the match I saw that he played against Stan and Novak at Wimbledon was impressive. He had a good attitude."

In the other men's quarterfinal match, fifth seed Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland will try to move to the US Open semis for the second time in his career when he takes on 15th seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa.

Wawrinka defeated Donald Young of United States in the fourth round, while Anderson scored a huge upset win against third seed Andy Murray in four sets on Monday.

In the women's side, second seed Simona Halep of Romania will collide with 20th seed Victoria Azarenka for a spot in the semifinals. Halep needed three sets to defeat 24th seed Sabine Lisicki in the fourth round, while Azarenka eliminated Varvara Lepchenko in straight sets.

Fifth seed Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic will also try to advance to the final four as she collides with 26th seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

Top seed Serena Williams and unseeded Roberta Vinci of Italy have already booked a spot in the women's quarterfinals, while top seed Novak Djokovic and defending champion Marin Cilic have also secured a spot in the final four of the men's tournament after winning on Tuesday.
