Wonder Woman may go back in time for her first standalone film.

According to Heroic Hollywood, inside sources have stated that the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie will be set in World War I. However, the whole film will not be in the past, as some of the movie will shift to modern times.

This is not at all surprising, given the fact that Woman Woman fights in the 1940s against the Nazis in the comic books. It is also not surprising if Warner Bros. does this as Wonder Woman is an equivalent to Captain America, who, in his first film, fought in World War II and was frozen in order to fight with the Avengers.

Other rumors are stating that Wonder Woman will be 200 years old in the upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." That would make her the oldest in the universe, and would make her very similar to Captain America.

The upcoming 2017 film is slated to be an origin story for the famous superhero. According to the same source, producer Deborah Snyder confirmed that the "Wonder Woman" standalone movie will begin shooting this November in London. However, casting has not been announced, other than Gal Gadot, and a director has yet to be chosen.

Michelle MacLaren was once slated to direct the film but she left the project. This will be the third film through which Warner Bros. is creating a DC world similar to that of Marvel's "Avengers." Warner Bros. is slated to make Aquaman and Batman films, and will also release "Suicide Squad" next year.

Wonder Woman will also appear in an upcoming "Justice League" movie, which is slated to begin shooting next spring. The "Wonder Woman" standalone film is slated for release in June 2017 and "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to make its theatrical debut in March.
