The horror comedy "Krampus" has finally released its trailer, and according to The Wrap, there are a few reasons in it to believe in Santa Claus.

The film stars actors Adam Scott, Toni Collette ("The United States of Tara") and David Koechner as the adults in the film and there are many ways that the Christmas holidays can go wrong with those non-believers.

According to Collider, the film is about a boy who has lost all hope for the Christmas spirit, and that is how the mythological creature descends upon the family for the season.

The boy (Emjay Anthony) has essentially turned his back on Christmas following the actions of his dysfunctional family and the terror begins. It starts off with a blizzard that rolls over his small town and hordes of terrifying creatures come with it. But that is just the appetizer as the real terror of the film is the Krampus creature that pays him a visit.

The film, which will be released on Dec. 4, is a bit of a creature feature that unfolds much in the same way that Joe Dante's 1984 film "Gremlins" did. It starts out with a slow-burn style of terror and unfolds in many different comical ways that supplement the frights in the situation.

The film hails from Michael Dougherty, who seems to be on track to be billed as the holiday hit maker. He also made the 2007 film "Trick 'r Treat," which turned into a Halloween hit for fans to revisit every year.

"Krampus" is not the only horror themed Christmas film coming this year. William Shatner stars in "A Christmas Horror Story," which will also feature the Krampus creature in it as well.
