A teacher from New Jersey might just lose her job after two of her students, both five year-olds, were found naked in the school bathroom and claimed they had sex, reports NY Daily News.

According to the report, it was a busy day for the class that September - with the class undergoing state testing. Kelly Mascio, the New Jersey teacher, was reportedly ushering kids in and out of the classroom on the day of the incident, says NY Daily News.

"On this date, I was advised that there was an incident that occurred in room 4 of the Mullica School. Mr. Matthew Mazzoni, the school principal, stated that a kindergarten teacher, Kelly Mascio caught/observed two five year old students in the bathroom in the rear of the classroom. Both of the students were naked and made a statement that they were having sex," the police report says.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that Mascio has been suspended shortly after reporting the September 30 incident, but with pay.

"Our main concern is that the administration has completely forgone all traditional disciplinary avenues available in handling the incident," Barbara Rheault, Mullica Township Education Association president told the Press of Atlantic City. "The administration has selected a disciplinary route that has resulted in enormous emotional and professional turmoil, and has strained the confidence and trust of school staff, parents and community members," Rheault added.

Now, it looks like the school district is terminating Mascio who has been a teacher for more than 15 years, reports NY Daily News, with the board having had discussed the incident Wednesday in a closed session meeting.

School district superintendent Brenda Harring-Marro has issued a statement, notes NY Daily News, but declined to comment specifically on the Mascio case.

"The district takes its responsibilities very seriously regarding the health, safety and welfare of our children. Simply stated, it would be unprofessional and irresponsible for anyone associated with the school district to speak about school district students or for others to seek to capitalize on that unprofessional and irresponsible behavior," she remarked.

The Press of Atlantic City says that criminal charges were not pursued and that the police have cleared the case.
